| | Details | The new American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid is designed for those whose jobs, volunteerism or favorite sports or hobbies take them to remote wilderness settings where Emergency Medical Services responders may be an hour or more away. The training complies with federal OSHA regulatory requirements for such certification. Major portions of the course are designed to be taught outdoors. Topics covered will include:
Head (Brain), Neck and Spinal Injuries
Wounds and Wound Infection
Hypothermia
Heat-Related Emergencies
Allergies and Anaphylaxis
Altitude-Related Illnesses
Bone and Joint Injuries
Burns
And more!
Website registration includes enrollment in a separate Adult CPR/AED course which is a prerequisite for the two-day WRFA training. If you already hold a valid, unexpired certificate for either Adult CPR with AED Essentials or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider that was issued by the Red Cross or another recognized training agency you may call the office during business hours at (206) 726-3534 to see if you qualify to enroll for the two-day WRFA training only at a reduced cost.
